At first sight foam inserts may not look a very exciting concept but there is a great deal of research that has gone into these. The foam insert may at first appear to be just a ring of foam but there is so much more involved in it than that. The insert serves a vital role in supporting the tyre and functioning in a way which can help or hinder you. Over the last 9 months several top drivers have been running a variety of samples of these to nail down what works best for them in a variety of conditions. You may have originally known these as Panic RC foams.
We are pleased also to announce that both 2wd BRCA Champ and Euros TQ Ellis Stafford, alongside Kev Lee, John Spencer and a few other notables will be running these for 2010 and will be on hand at many meetings to assist you with foam choices.
The foam compounds and insert size are where the secret is... We finally settled on the foams to be used after much debate about the properties of each. One of the inserts is a "typical" tyre foam and the other two are of a very different nature to those currently available. In short utilising a closed cell technology and a speciality industrial foam to offer the new options. With regards to the insert sizes, we opted for a fuller foam to better support the tyre for both improved side and forward bite, these are no compromise inserts.
These foams are suitable for a wide range of applications, suitable for use in almost all 1/10 4wd front wheel and tyre combinations. They are of a firm rate and are grey in colour for quick and easy identification. The inserts are ideal for use on the following cars:
- Associated B44
- Schumacher CAT SX/SX2
- Durango DEX410
- Team Losi XX4/XXX4
- Jconcepts BJ4
- Yokomo BMAX
- Kyosho ZX5
