At long last the new version of the Cobra, the X1 Truggy has landed, based on the X1 Evo which dominated the competition in the hands of Spanish driver Robert Batlle. A brief look at the specification and its not hard to understand just how successful the engine has been, and as with any of the other Axe Rossi engines the Cobra X1 Evolution oozes with quality inside and out.
As with other models in the Cobra line up it features a heavily revised exhaust port arrangement to maximize power and efficency, which when coupled with the lightweight machined piston and knife-edged conrod gives supreme power from nothing to everything. Also featuring in the new Cobra Truggy is the fully sleeved polymer crankshaft, which while polymer is now not uncommon on any of the high-end race engines, this is the first time an engine manufacturer has entirely sleeved the inside of the crankshaft. With this single advancement alone the new engine gives tremendous runtime with an incredibly smooth powerband - All by simply flowing the fuel more efficiently into the liner! The crankshaft also features the tungsten counter-balancing inserts, as used on previous Mamba and Cobra engines, this allows the counterweight on the crank to be balanced precisely, giving maximum top end RPM with a solid spool up at low speed. Finally the Cobra Truggy is finished off with a newly re-designed cooling head, which is now a little larger than that as used on the previous Cobra, ideal for keeping your engine at a consistent running temperature during those long mains.
